Efe Alpay works with museums, cultural institutions, corporations, foundations and public bodies to turn the sound that defines them — an archive, a founding moment, a signature acoustic identity — into sculpture, installation and memorial. Each work is generated from the recording itself. Nothing is illustrated; the form is the data.
Who commissions this work
Museums and cultural institutions
Oral histories, archival broadcasts and collection audio, resculpted as installations or exhibition series.
Corporations and brands
A founder’s voice, a defining moment or a product’s signature sound, materialised as a permanent presence in a headquarters, lobby or flagship.
Foundations, associations and public bodies
Memorials and commemorative works for communities, anniversaries and public space, from a plinth piece to a monument.
Architects, developers and art consultants
Site-specific works developed with the project team, from brief to installation.
Scope
Private commissions are not currently accepted.
The practice’s capacity is committed to institutional and organisational work. Requests for personal pieces — a family recording, a gift, a private memorial — cannot be taken on at present.
Enquiries are welcome from an organisation directly, or through its curator, architect, art consultant or agency.
What gets made
Installation
Single-channel or multi-screen generative works for atria, lobbies and galleries. 4K and 8K seamless loops, silent or with the source audio, adaptable to any aspect ratio.
Sculpture and monument
Physical editions from a 20 cm object to architectural scale, in resin, gold, titanium, steel or printed PLA, with the sound’s provenance recorded on the piece.
Archive series
A modular pipeline carries many recordings through the same process, so an institution’s archive becomes a coherent body of work rather than a single object.
Editions
Limited physical or digital editions for members, donors and anniversaries, each traceable to its source recording.
How a commission runs

Enquiry
The organisation, the context for the work, the site or format in mind, and an indicative timeline.

Discovery
A conversation about the sound: what exists, what it means to the organisation, and the rights and consent around it. Provenance is settled before anything is made.

Concept and preview
Spectral analysis, form studies and a digital preview of the work in its intended setting, approved before fabrication begins.
04
Production and installation
Rendering or fabrication, delivery, installation and documentation, with a certificate recording the source of the work.

Behind the method
The sound-to-form method comes from the doctoral thesis Sound Data as Design Material. Alongside the practice, Alpay led more than sixty-five museum, exhibition and science-centre projects as creative director at reo-tek — the scale at which this work is meant to live.
